Mobile service unit to enhance network capacity, reach and connectivity for Apple smartphone users
Ridgeland, Miss. (February 29, 2016) – C Spire today announced that its mobile service unit has launched a new Wi-Fi hotspot connection service for Apple iOS smartphone users.
Customers of the nation’s sixth largest mobile service provider who own Apple smartphones will now have free access to over 20 million high-quality amenity Wi-Fi access points worldwide thanks to a partnership with Devicescape. The new service will help ensure superior connectivity and allow individuals to better manage data usage.
With each site managed in real-time for quality, availability and easy access, the hotspot connection service complements C Spire’s robust 4G LTE mobile broadband network. Customers benefit from improved coverage, particularly indoors, less mobile data consumption and an intelligent resource to help manage roaming outside the company’s primary service area.
Widely recognized for its innovation and technology leadership, the mobile service unit of C Spire has been offering the Wi-Fi hotspot connection service for customers with Android smartphones since 2013 through its “WiFi On” app available through the Google Play store.

Hankins said WiFi On makes connecting to Wi-Fi locations that are part of the C Spire WiFi network simple and automatic. With WiFi On, customers get additional data service, especially indoors, while traveling or when they are in locations where cellular networks may be limited or unavailable. WiFi On also helps customers save data on their mobile data plan.
The C Spire WiFi network comprises many of the places customers frequently visit, including Walmart, McDonalds, Home Depot, Target, Chick-fil-A and many others. These range from large retail stores, malls, and stadiums to many smaller places like public libraries or restaurants.
